A crash involving a military Humvee that earlier shut down Interstate 4 eastbound in Seminole County has backed up traffic for miles as emergency vehicles work the scene on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash that occurred just before 3 p.m. near mile marker 88 before Lake Mary Boulevard initially closed down all traffic on the interstate, according to FL511. It reopened with just a stream of cars going through with the three right lanes blocked as of 3:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., officials were set to reopen all by one of the four lanes of I-4 eastbound.

Traffic continued to be backed up at least 6 miles to State Road 434.

“Motorists are asked to seek an alternate route and expect delays,” according to an alert from FL511.

Video from the crash showed military vehicles on site including a Humvee that Fox 35 News posted video of earlier being winched back upright onto its wheels by members of the Seminole County Fire Department.
