Vigo Schools recognize third class of Circle of Honor

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County School Corporation’s Circle of Honor continues to grow.

Now in it’s third year of existence, the most recent class of inductees has been announced by VCSC officials.

Each of this year’s recipients will be honored during a May 10 event at Terre Haute North High School.

Firefighter/Paramedic of the Year recognized at THFD Dinner

The Circle of Honor was created to recognize prominent VCSC alumni, staff members, administration, and community members who have made substantial contributions to local schools.

This years recipients are as follows:

  • Sandy Billing
  • Jill Brewer
  • Dr. Karen Goeller
  • Evangeline Harris Merriweather
  • Rev. Teresa Hord Owens
  • Louis “Pete” Jones
  • Robert Mardis
  • Dr. Michael Meneghini
  • Clara Lee Parsons
  • Michael Phillips
  • Sister Dorothy Rasche
  • Donald Shepherd
  • Donald Turner

“Since becoming a member of the Vigo County community in July, I’ve had the chance to meet many people who are currently working to better our schools – and I’ve had the chance to meet many people who have made a big impact on our schools throughout the years,” VCSC Superintendent Dr. Chris Himsel said. “It is important to honor the people from our past, while we work towards a stronger future for our schools and students.”
