Montgomery County police arrest man for series of store burglaries

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police in Montgomery County arrested a 59-year-old man accused of committing a series of burglaries in March.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said that detectives were investigating six burglaries that happened in the first week of March. Police said that there was also property damage in each case.

PGPD: Man arrested for 7 armed robberies in 8 days

MCPD identified the following incidents:

  • ATM damage at the Bank of America on Redland Road;
  • Forced entry and stolen cash at the Spice Lanka restaurant on Redland Road;
  • Attempted forced entry into the Derwood Beer and Wine store on Redland Road;
  • Forced entry and stolen money from Vida Hair Salon on Montgomery Village Avenue;
  • Forced entry into the Dollar Tree, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Ledo’s Pizza and The Joint Chiropractic on Montgomery Village Avenue. Money was stolen from the Moe’s Southwest Grill;
  • Attempted forced entry into the Metro by T-Mobile on Stedwick Road.

Police identified Lawrence Clipper of Gaithersburg as the suspect in all of the cases.

Officers had arrested Clipper on unrelated charges on March 14. On April 10, police charged him with multiple counts of burglary, attempted burglary and malicious destruction of property.

Clipper was held without bond.
