Kanawha County woman shoots husband in the groin during domestic dispute

JEFFERSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Kanawha County woman faces charges following a shooting incident that occurred during late Tuesday night during a domestic dispute.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, just before midnight, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched in response to a shooting in the 100 block of Lee Street East in the Jefferson area.

A female had reportedly contacted 911 indicating that she had shot her husband during a domestic dispute.
Deputies arrived at the scene to discover a 39-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the groin inside the residence.

The male received treatment at the scene from Kanawa County Medics and was transported to the CAMA trauma unit at CAMC General Hospital with serious injuries. The victim’s condition would later be updated to be indicate stable with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following a thorough investigation into the dispute itself and the events surrounding the incident, the victim’s wife, identified as 38-year-old Cora Collins, was arrested and charged with one felony count of Malicious Wounding.

Collins was expected to be arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on Wednesday morning.
