MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS)—Sixteen people have filed complaints against the Mingo County Public Service District over several water issues.

On April 12, 2024, sixteen people filed complaints against the Mingo County Public Service district. One resident complained about water outages, low water pressure, and water leaks . Another individual says that fire hydrants don’t work. Another complaint filed by an individual says that water contains contaminants. Other issues brought on by others include the muddy water, leaks not fixed when they should be, and some problems that have been ongoing for 13 years.

On April 22, 2024, the Mingo PSD denied acting unreasonably or violating rules. However, it did indicate that it was aware of a leak, outage, and pressure problems in the service area. They say the issues relate to the condition of pipes in the area constructed in the 1980s with polybutylene piping, which is a defective material.

Mingo PSD also indicated a pending project at the Infrastructure Counsel to replace the pipes. In 2018, approximately 54.11% of customers had water loss.  Lootpress has reported several issues with Mingo County water.
