Two people on a motorcycle were injured Monday in a wreck on southbound Interstate 5 at Mounts Road, near the Thurston County border, according to Washington State Patrol.

The driver, a 43-year-old Lewis County man, and his passenger, a 44-year-old Seattle woman, were taken to Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The Lewis County man is now facing a vehicular assault charge, according to State Patrol.

About 6:30 p.m. Monday, a 53-year-old Lacey man was driving south on the freeway when troopers say the motorcycle crashed into his car. The Lacey man was not hurt.

Traffic was slowed for about three hours, according to State Patrol.
