Court documents reveal more details in March Johnson County homicide

EDGERTON, Kan. — An affidavit obtained by FOX4 Monday reveals more details in a late March southern Johnson County, Kansas homicide case.

Joseph Wacaster, 31, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of 27-year-old Cade Blackburn.

Officers found Blackburn dead inside a home near 5th and Edgewood Drive in southern Johnson County in late March.

In the affidavit, police state they found Blackburn’s body covered with the family board game “Sorry” along with a Bible. Deputies also recovered a large butcher knife with blood on it.

The parents told officers they received cryptic messages from their son’s phone and believed it was Wacaster who sent them.

According to prosecutors, Blackburn and Wacaster were in a relationship.

Wacaster was arrested in Oklahoma but has now been moved to Johnson County.

He’s scheduled to be back in court on May 2.
