PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 33-year-old man is sentenced to life and an additional 18 to 40 years in prison for beating his 21-year-old girlfriend to death in their Chester County home nearly three years ago.

Earlier this year, Leroy Brahm was convicted of first-degree murder for beating his girlfriend Annabel Meenan to death on December 4, 2021.

The deadly beating was recorded on a home surveillance system Brahm installed to keep an eye on Meenan after he secluded her from her friends and family. Authorities say he’s seen punching and kicking her at least 80 times and dragging her around by the hair.

Brahm was also convicted of two counts of aggravated assault for previous beatings that were recorded by the security system, including one where he kicked her so hard her leg broke, and another where he choked her until she was unconscious.

At the sentencing Monday, Chester County Judge Alita Rovito said he was seen taking multiple breaks during the videos and pointed to testimony from the medical examiner that her injuries would have been painful, as they covered 50-60% of her body.

Prosecutor Kate Wright called Meenan’s murder “slow, tortuous, painful, and degrading.”

Brahm declined to address the court.

Meenan was remembered by friends and family as caring, sweet, funny, optimistic and always seeing the good in people.

Her father told the court he’s horrified to think of the pain his daughter “suffered in the months leading up to her slaughter.”
