PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The county said Monday that it launched a program to encourage the installation of security cameras at homes and businesses.

Prince George’s County said the goal of the Private Security Camera Incentive Program is to enhance “community safety by increasing the number of security cameras in priority areas across the County including Langley Park, Glassmanor, and Walker Mill.”

County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said the program offers rebates to people who install security camera systems on properties owned or leased by individuals, non-profit groups, and businesses.

“We are committed to reducing crime and promoting equity throughout Prince George’s County,” said Alsobrooks. “This program builds on our track record of success in fighting crime and empowers residents and businesses to actively participate in enhancing community safety.”
