UPDATE: As of 12:03 p.m. Sunday, Cantarero is no longer considered missing, according to police.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police were searching for a Prince William County man who was said to have made “concerning statements” before going missing on Saturday.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, 27-year-old Nilson Carabante Cantarero made “concerning statements” before leaving his Forestdale Drive home at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

“Nilson is believed to be missing under voluntary circumstances and may be in need of assistance, which qualifies him as endangered,” said the department in a press release.

Just after noon on Sunday, the department sent out an update saying Cantarero is now thought to be safe.

“[Cantarero] is no longer considered missing or endangered based on information received indicating he is safe,” the department said.
