In 1892, God gave a group of dynamic trailblazers - under the leadership of the church’s first pastor, the Rev. Thomas Williams - a vision to help establish a place of worship; being Cornerstone Baptist Church.

This church has been blessed to provide a spiritual home and faith community for thousands of people for 132 years.

Because of God and former spiritual leaders, we are here today, even after fire that destroyed the original structure on Pearl Street in 1919.

Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church has demonstrated a commitment to the teachings of the Holy Bible by a long and enviable history of assisting those in need and providing unfailing leadership for the lost and misguided. It has served as a rock upon which its youth learned the value of love, respect and dignity in our society.

Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and our current Sheppard, the Rev. Dr. Russell Shaw Sr., who was installed as pastor in 1995, many improvements and renovations have been added to the church; perfecting our vision to “Move Forward With All Boldness” Exodus 14:15.

Thank you, Martin County, for your love and support for 132 years. It is our prayer that this church will continue to grow and positively impact our community as we congratulate you on your 250th year Anniversary.
