    • CO Ashley Whiteoak (Aitkin) spent time patrolling for fishing, trapping and ATV riding activity. She also worked on equipment maintenance and assisted the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle rollover. She reminded anglers to be careful as they navigate water with their boats for the open water season.

    • CO Tony Flerlage (Crosby) checked the first open water anglers of the year. They were targeting crappies, bluegills and catfish. Beaver trapping has been going steady.

    • CO Taylor Hochstein (Hill City) spoke with a couple of groups of turkey hunters who were out and about scouting for the upcoming season. Turkey numbers in the area seem good and hunters’ hopes of success are high. A couple of fires were investigated and assistance was given to local law enforcement agencies with calls for service.

    • CO Joseph Scholz (Malmo) wrapped up an investigation on misuse of state forest lands. With cool weather and muddy conditions, recreation activity was low, save for beaver trappers, who were having success. Scholz assisted in other stations where fishing activity was more plentiful. Some ice still lingers in southern bays of Mille Lacs Lake, but should be gone soon. Enforcement action was taken for leaving property on state forest lands and misuse of state forest lands.
