Want to be a ‘Chief Ice Cream Officer’? American Dairy Association North East is hiring

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — If you love ice cream and creating social media content, the American Dairy Association North East has a job for you.

The company is looking for its first-ever “Chief Ice Cream Officer” who will help them on visits to local creameries, and create social media content along the way.

The position is open to New York residents and pays $5,000 to tour 20 creameries in Pennsylvania, highlighting dairy farms and sharing their experiences.

“We want to spotlight the amazing family dairy farms in Pennsylvania and promote that many of them make delicious, local ice cream on site,” said Patrick Carney, the association’s vice president of marketing and digital strategy. “This is an incredible way to celebrate National Ice Cream Month (July) and encourage people to follow our CIO’s journey to learn about Pennsylvania’s dairy farms on Instagram and TikTok (@AmericanDairyNE).”

In Pennsylvania, approximately 5,000 family dairy farms produce nearly 10 billion pounds of milk annually; a good amount goes into making ice cream.

The Chief Ice Cream Officer’s job is to highlight any sweet treats on social media on their “ice cream road trip” which will take about two to three weeks. The American Dairy Association will cover all travel-related expenses.

“Judging will be based on creativity, originality and excitement for ice cream,” Carney says. “We want someone who is excited about going on a road trip and visiting family farms. They should be adventurous and love creating videos and posting on social media.”

To apply for the fun summer job, submit a video via TikTok or Instagram explaining why you should be chosen as CIO. The deadline to apply is May 20, 2024.

Interested applicants must be 18 years old or older, have a valid driver’s license, access to a car and active car insurance. You also must be a legal resident of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York, the District of Columbia or Virginia.
