Columbia County announces multiple road closures due to public safety event

Columbia County recently announced two temporary road closures in the Evans Towne Center area for this year's Public Safety and Preparedness Event.

The first road closure will be on Antebellum Way, according to a news release from the county. The road will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. Friday through midnight Saturday.

The second road closure will be a temporary closure of Evans Town Center Boulevard, from Ronald Reagan Drive to Antebellum Way, according to the release. The road will be closed to all thru traffic from 6 a.m. until midnight Saturday.

"The purpose of closing the roadway is to reduce pedestrian/vehicle conflicts for the event," the county wrote in the release. "Pedestrian traffic is expected to be extremely high in that area, as well as the areas surrounding Evans Towne Center Park, especially during ingress and egress times."
