MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who received a suspended sentence for a deadly shooting five years ago in Orange Mound was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend multiple times earlier this year.

Willie Wilson, 26, was booked in the Shelby County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

The victim told police she was driving on Holmes Road near Hornsby Drive in Whitehaven when Wilson pulled up beside her car and opened fire.

One bullet hit her in the chest, three bullets hit her right arm, and two hit her left arm.

According to court records, the ex-girlfriend was able to identify Wilson as the person who shot her, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

At the time, Wilson was serving a five-year supervised suspended sentence for the shooting death of Christopher King.

On June 27, 2019, King was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Kimball Cabana apartments on Kimball Avenue.

A witness told investigators King and Wilson were arguing over money seconds before the shooting, and she saw Wilson flee the scene in a white car.
