More than 800 power outages reported in Phelps County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

There were 826 power outages reported in Phelps County on Thursday afternoon, all of which were customers of the Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association, according to its outage map.

The peak of the outage occurred before 7 p.m. By 7:07 p.m., there were 250 outages.

Damage was observed around the county. One photo taken by the Missouri State Highway Patrol showed a large tree uprooted on Martin Springs Drive. Another photo showed the roof pulled back on a motel.

"The City of Rolla Fire & Rescue ran a total of eight (8) storm related calls this evening. They ranged from downed power lines to sparking and or power lines on fire," according to an email from Rolla Fire Chief Jeff Breen. "We had part of a roof come apart on a Motel located on Martin Springs Drive and a tree on a house located at Spencer Avenue. Thankfully the storm came through fast and overall, not much damage to report. "

There were 261 power outages reported in Morgan County around 3 p.m. Thursday at its peak, but was mostly resolved by 5:15 p.m.

Storms rolled through the area on Thursday and the ABC 17 News Stormtrack Weather Team had declared Thursday as a Weather Alert Day .
