Cortland County Sheriff’s Office participates in STOP-DWI campaign ahead of 420

CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on impaired driving as part of a statewide initiative.

The Sheriff’s Office is participating in the New York STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign. Deputies will be on high alert from April 19 to April 21 is accordance with “420”, a globally recognized marijuana smoking holiday held on April 20.

The campaign targets drunk and impaired drivers on holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day, 420, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Holiday Season and Super Bowl Weekend.

The High Visibility Engagement Campaign is promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
