Reported fight in Miami Township prompts call for all available backup

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Two individuals were arrested after a Signal 99 was issued in Miami Township.

On Wednesday, Miami Township Police Dispatch told 2 NEWS that at 8:40 p.m. an officer in the 5800 block of Homedale Avenue issued a signal 99, a phrase used to request assistance from all nearby law enforcement officials.

According to a spokesperson for the Miami Twp. Police Department, the officer responded to the scene on a report of a “scuffle.” The spokesperson said the officer reportedly “observed several people fighting,” which prompted the call for backup.

When additional officials arrived, the spokesperson said the occurrence was “calmed quickly.”

Dispatch told 2 NEWS the Signal 99 was canceled at 8:41 p.m.

“No officers were endangered,” according to police.

Police report two individuals were arrested.
