Litchfield Elementary School District (LESD79) announced Wednesday the appointment of Michele Wallace as its newest member of the governing board. The district said Wallace brings a deep-rooted passion for education, a wealth of experience and a valuable perspective to the board.

Wallace has lived in Arizona for the past 17 years, relocating from Michigan after graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in Education. According to the district, she initially moved to Arizona to pursue her passion for teaching at a local elementary school. Her journey led her to take on corporate roles for a time; however, Michele's interest in education remained.

Holding a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, she said she is committed to ensuring educational excellence and supporting the growth of every student.

Melissa Zuidema, President of the LESD79 Governing Board, expressed her excitement about Michele joining the board.

"We are thrilled to welcome Michele Wallace to the Litchfield Elementary School District Governing Board,” she said. “Her dedication to education and her commitment to supporting students and staff are evident. We look forward to her positive leadership and the continued pursuit of educational excellence for our entire school community."

Michele resides in Goodyear with her husband, Scott, and their two children, both of whom attend LESD79. Outside of her professional endeavors, she and her family enjoy traveling and actively participating in their children's sporting events.

Maricopa County School Superintendent Steve Watson said he appointed her to align with the current vision of the district.

"I am excited to welcome Michele Wallace to her new position as a member of the Governing Board in the Litchfield Elementary School District,” he said. “She has ample experience as a teacher but also has proven to be highly qualified through her academic education leadership accomplishments. Her vision aligns well with the District's goals, and she is going to be a solid voice for children and their families. I am confident that she will be a valued colleague to her fellow board members."
