TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man who is accused of shooting at three Hillsborough County deputies on Sunday was ordered to remain jailed until his trial, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

A judge agreed with prosecutors that Anthony Carpenter, 32, should be considered a threat to the public.

Deputies were called to Beacon Meadows Park on Sunday after people in the area complained about Carpenter, according to prosecutors.

While deputies were attempting to subdue Carpenter with a taser, Carpenter allegedly fired at the deputies, prosecutors said. One of the bullets hit a deputy’s service radio, causing him to have a torn ligament and possible broken bone.

“When he attacked them, he attacked our community,” State Attorney Suzy Lopez said in a statement. “He will be held accountable for his actions.”

Carpenter is facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and armed trespass on property.
