Rain is back in the forecast through the weekend

Thursday : Patchy dense fog this morning through about 9 AM, then late-afternoon showers and storms will develop. A few could be strong to possibly severe with gusty winds and downpours. SPC has placed Central Alabama in a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, warm, and humid with highs in the middle 80s.

Thursday Night: Another upper-level wave will move through Thursday night into early Friday. This will set off more showers and storms with some heavy rain.

Friday: An upper-level wave will move across Alabama from west to east. We will remain mostly cloudy with spotty showers and storms. Again, a few storms could be strong to possibly severe with gusty winds. SPC has placed Central Alabama in a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s.

Weekend Outlook: A cold front will move across Alabama on Saturday with hit-or-miss showers and storms. High temperatures will be in the middle 70s. The cold front will sit along the coast on Sunday, and an upper-level wave will move across Alabama with more widespread showers and storms. These are not expected to be severe. It will turn MUCH cooler with high temperatures only in the middle 60s.

Talladega Race Weekend : Showers and storms could impact racing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It’ll be warm Friday afternoon, but temperatures will be more mild Saturday and a bit chilly on Sunday.
