    Active brush fire reported in Wyoming County now contained

    UPDATE: Thursday, April 18, 2024 @ 5:00 P.M. | KOPPERSTON, WV (WVNS) — According to Mat Bailey, a Forester with the West Virginia Division of Forestry, containment lines have currently been added for the brush fire, and there will be heavy smoke for about two or three days.

    West Virginia DMV mainframe issues affect services

    14 hours of line construction was conducted from 7:00 P.M. yesterday until 1:00 A.M. today. The Oceana Fire Department assisted with structure protection for the brush fire.

    Bailey also wants to reminds residents of the state that the state is still in fire season until the end of May, which means no burning from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Fires must be attended at all times and trash is not allowed to be burned.

    KOPPERSTON, WV (WVNS) — A report of an active brush fire was confirmed in the Kopperston area of Wyoming County.

    National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

    According to Mat Bailey, a Forester with the West Virginia Division of Forestry, an active fire up in the mountains near the baseball field in Kopperston is ongoing and currently not contained.

    Three men from the West Virginia Division of Forestry are currently on scene trying to contain the fire.

    It is unknown when the brush fire will be contained.
