Driving can often be a leisurely activity to take in the stunning scenery surrounding the place you call home, but it can also be a dangerous endeavor for numerous reasons , like increased traffic, reckless driving and unexpected accidents.

Based on data from the National Highway Transit Safety Administration, around 1 in 4 fatal car crashes in America occur at an intersection. The legal team at Piasta Walker Hagenbush LLC used data from the administration to compile a list of the "deadliest" intersections around the country. Among the list are three intersections in South Carolina .

The deadliest intersection of them all is White Horse Rd. (US-25) and Farrs Bridge Rd. (SR-183) in Greenville County, which reported six fatal crashes between 2004 and 2021. The other two, US-17 and SR-537 and Fording Island Rd. (US-278) and Okatie Hwy. (SR-170) , in Horry County and Beaufort County, respectively, fell closely behind with five fatal crashes reported during that time frame.

This is how PWH determined the listing for the most dangerous intersections in America:

"Data for this analysis comes from the National Highway Transit Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System. We looked at fatal crashes from 2004 through 2021 (the most recent year for which data has been publicly released as of February 2024), isolating crashes that either happened in an intersection or as a result of driver action in an intersection (turning, etc.)."
