Muhlenberg Co. Public Schools initiates lockdown over incident

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Law enforcement officials are investigating after a bullet was found in a bathroom at Muhlenberg County High School.

Officials with Muhlenberg County Public Schools tell us there was a lockdown in regard to this incident, but it has since been lifted.

According to the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department:

We currently have an open investigation related to the ammunition located in the school. We are still trying to determine how it was brought into the facility. While we will remain vigilant, at this time we don’t suspect there is any threat to students or faculty.

Greenville Police Department is investigating after a bullet was found in a bathroom at Muhlenberg County High School.

Muhlenberg County Public Schools initiated a lockdown in reference to the Tuesday incident.

Officials with Muhlenberg County Public Schools tell us on 12:02 p.m., the school system sent out the following alert:

We want to make you aware of a situation that we are currently investigating within the high school. All students and staff have been placed in a modified lockdown which means classes are continuing, but there is no traffic in the hallways.  Students will not be allowed to leave class until the modified lockdown is lifted. We will send you updates as they occur.

Officials tell us on 12:22 p.m., the school system sent out the following alert:

The modified lockdown has now been lifted after a joint investigation with local law enforcement. The investigation revealed no immediate threat and our students are returning to normal schedule. Thank you!
