"It has been a very busy and very fun 10 years with 21 buildings," says St. Louis County Library director and CEO, Kristen Sorth. "But we are at the end of the road, so to speak, as so we're really excited to open this amazing branch."

The Clark Family Branch on Lindbergh replaces the old headquarters building and is the final piece of a campaign that began in 2012 with the passage of a sales tax dedicated to library system improvements.

The new branch is 74,000 square feet with an 800-seat event space, business center, high-tech teen center, children's area, outdoor reading deck, art collections from Kranzberg Arts Foundation and genealogy information all in one place.

The first event at the Clark Family Branch will be June 1st when country singer and former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman, Darius Rucker, headlines an event to discuss his memoir. That is a ticketed event.

The ribbon cutting is July 9th after which it is open to the public. Sorth says they're not completely done, though. They are taking another look at the Sachs branch in Chesterfield. She says that area is developing so quickly, the branch now seems to small to keep up with demand.
