MACOMB CO. (WWJ) — The Macomb County Sheriff's Office made 25 arrests last week of parents who had outstanding bench warrants for not paying child support, or for missing child support court hearings.

What officials said was a five-day sweep cleared over 60 warrants with the amount owed by those arrested totaling over $1,200,000, according to the MCSO.

“The enforcement of child support is a serious issue in Macomb County,” said Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “The goal of these sweeps is simple: make life better for children by getting them the money they need to grow up healthy and happy.”

Collectively, the MCSO Detective Bureau attempted to contact 146 parents in Macomb County over the five day period.
