Man impersonating a police officer arrested

( KRON ) – A man was arrested after impersonating a police officer, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office announced on Sunday.

A Santa Clara County deputy conducted an enforcement stop on an SUV with an expired registration. The deputy noticed the solo driver of the vehicle was wearing a uniform that said "police" that included a duty belt and a bulletproof vest.

According to the SCCSO, the deputy was consented to search the vehicle. The search yielded two firearms, two batons, pepper spray, and methamphetamine. The SUV also had "code 3" police lights. According to deputies, the driver was responsible for the police lights. The suspect did not have a guard card, according to deputies.

The suspect was arrested on multiple charges including:

  • Impersonating a peace officer
  • Possession of a baton
  • Possession of a concealed firearm
  • Possession of tear gas
  • Falsification of registration
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm
  • Possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm
  • Possession of methamphetamine.
