Caroline County man charged with offering minor money to engage in prostitution

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 45-year-old Caroline County man has been charged with offering a minor under 16 years of age money to engage in prostitution after officials carried out two search warrants.

According to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office , Darian Pleasants, of the Ruther Glen area of the county, has been charged with “felony offering a minor less than 16 years of age money for the purpose of engaging in prostitution and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.”

Officials said Pleasant is a registered sex offender and is currently being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office reportedly obtained copies of alleged conversations between Pleasants and a juvenile who identified themselves as being less than 16 years old through a series of search warrants online and on messaging apps.

Using information found through the search warrants, the sheriff’s office obtained a search warrant for two homes in Caroline County. When these were served, investigators allegedly found Pleasants with a device they believe he used to communicate with the juvenile victim in this case.

Investigators also found a handgun in a safe that they believed to be owned by Pleasants.
