HONOLULU (KHON2) — A strong high pressure system located north of the state will deliver powerful and brisk trade winds until Friday. Showers will occur in typical windward and mauka regions, occasionally drifting into leeward sides. Wind speeds will gradually ease to breezy levels over the weekend, accompanied by a slight reduction in showers through the first half of the following week.

A high-pressure system north of the Hawaiian Islands, generating windy and gusty trade winds until Friday. A low situated northwest of Kauai has minimal impact on local weather conditions. This windy and relatively damp trade wind pattern will persist until Friday, prompting a Wind Advisory for the windier regions of each island, scheduled to last until Thursday afternoon. However, the strong trade winds might persist into Friday, potentially necessitating an extension of the advisory.

The high pressure will gradually weaken and shift southward over the weekend, leading to a reduction in trade wind speeds and a transition to more moderate to breezy conditions by Sunday. A cold front approaching from the north early next week will disrupt the high pressure ridge north of the island chain, resulting in decreased wind speeds on Monday and Tuesday.

A weak cold frontal cloud band from the north will another round of increasing shower activity across all islands by the middle of next week. After the front passes, trade winds are expected to strengthen once again.
