Some Holiday Stationstores in Minnesota are being renamed Circle K

Will Holiday Stationstores soon go the way of Super America in Minnesota?

The Super America name was rebranded as Speedway following a takeover in 2018, and now a handful of Holiday Stationstores are rebranding to "Circle K" following the Minnesota chain's acquisition in 2017 by Canada-based Alimentation Couche-Tard.

At the time of the takeover, Couche-Tard said it intends to keep the Holiday name and brand, but The Rochester Post-Bulletin reported this week that eight Holiday gas stations in the city are being converted to the Canadian brand.

MPR News reports another Holiday location in Owatonna has also switched to Circle K.

Couche-Tard's head of global communications, Chris Barnes, told MPR News he didn't have any information on whether the rebranding will continue around the state, including the Twin Cities metro.

The changeover has reportedly been ongoing since 2022, when Holiday Stationstores in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, began to make the switch.

Bring Me The News reached out to Alimentation Couche-Tard for more details on the brand change.

The Holiday brand was founded in 1928 by the Erickson family, according to its website. Stores began to open across Minnesota and Wisconsin, with the first Holiday store in Minnesota opening in Lindstrom in 1939.

The company grew to become the 18th largest convenience chain in the United States.

Thousands of Circle K locations exist across 20 countries.
