Price County Review wins WNA awards

The Price County Review received three awards at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association annual conference on March 16-17 in Madison. The awards, presented by the WNA Foundation, are for the 2023 Better Newspaper Awards for news, photos, videos and advertising content published between Sept. 1, 2022 and Aug. 31, 2023.

The 2023 Wisconsin contest entrees were judged by members of the Kentucky Press Association. The Price County Review is in Division D, which is for weekly newspapers with a circulation between 2,250 and 4,499.

Price County Review received the Best Video Second Place award for the Park Falls Christmas Tree Lighting that was posted on Dec. 1, 2022. The judge’s comments were that, "While it looked freezing, the video captured a great local tradition."

Price County Review received the Business Coverage Third Place award for three articles that included “Pan-Asian market opens in Park Falls,” printed on Dec. 8, 2022; “Couple makes mall their dream,” printed on Sept. 8, 2022; and “Owners close Espresso Alamode,” printed on Oct. 8, 2022. The judge’s comments were that, "I personally enjoyed the feature on the mall the most, but I felt like all of these submissions show a strong desire to get out into the community and find interesting behind-the-scenes stories as it relates to local business."

Price County Review received the Open Records/FOIA Third Place Award for "Court sides with Sleck in open records case." The judge’s comments were, "Very interesting story. Good writing and attention to detail."
