TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After not receiving many registrants ahead of the upcoming total solar eclipse and the surrounding festivities, the Vigo County Health Department is on the lookout for food vendors operating without a permit.

As with any event in the county, those looking to serve food must get a permit to do so. Vigo County Health Department Media Coordinator Shelby Jackson said that anyone planning to participate in food vending for any eclipse event in the county must register with the health department, and pay a late fee to do so, as the initial deadline of March 22 has passed.

Anyone caught operating without a permit will receive a fine and be asked to cease operations and leave the event.

To register a business for a permit visit the Health Department’s website here to download an application, or visit the Health Department in person. Applications can be submitted between 8:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For questions regarding the permit process call 812-462-3428 and ask to speak with someone in the environmental health division.
