A high-speed chase last week led to two arrests after police say four vehicles were broken into in Burlington.

Authorities say they arrived at Mitchell Court at 3:44 a.m. Thursday for a report of two people breaking into vehicles. When they arrived, police say they saw a vehicle leaving Mitchell Court onto Mitchell Avenue at a high rate of speed.

According to police, officers tried to catch up to the vehicle as it continued at a high rate of speed and eventually crashed into a fence in the 500 block of High Street.

They say the two occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers chased two people and arrested them after a brief pursuit, according to police.

Authorities say one of the stolen vehicles was taken from a residence on Bordentown Road but was abandoned when it became disabled on Mitchell Avenue. In addition, police say the vehicle that was used to flee the area was previously reported stolen in Philadelphia.

According to police, 28-year-old Eric Santos, of Riverside, and 23-year-old Valentin Paulino, of Camden, were charged with numerous crimes and offenses, including burglary, theft, eluding, obstructing and criminal mischief. They are both being held in the Burlington County Detention Facility pending a court appearance.

This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this or other car burglaries is asked to contact Det. Jamie Lambing at 609-386-0262 , ext. 270.
