CONCORDIA PARISH, La. — Unsurprisingly, the voters of Concordia Parish widely favored President Joe Biden on the Democratic side and former president Donald Trump on the Republican side of Saturday’s presidential and municipal primary.

Voter turnout for Democrats was 26.3 percent or 1,419 voters. Biden received 82 percent or 1,163 of those votes. Marianne Williamson was second with 5 percent or 71 votes, and Dean Phillips was third with 3 percent or 49 votes.

For Republicans, 25.4 percent of registered voters, or 1,058 people voted. Of those, 94 percent or 990 voters supported Trump. Nikki Haley came second in Concordia Parish with 3 percent or 34 votes, and Ron DeSantis came third with 2 percent or 21 votes.

The parish also re-elected the incumbent Louisiana Rep. C. Travis Johnson, D-Ferriday, to represent Louisiana’s 21st District. Johnson won re-election in all six parishes represented with 55 percent of the total votes, or 1,496 total votes.

From Concordia Parish, 61 percent or 930 voters favored Johnson.

James “Jamie” Davis Jr. came second with 26 percent or 699 votes from his district and 22 percent or 334 votes from Concordia Parish.

Concordia Parish also chose Brandon H. Avery for the District 32-G Louisiana Republican State Central Committee with 96 percent of the votes. However, only 45 people in the parish voted in the race between Avery and Jack Pangburn.
