Hillary Clinton waved off concerns about President Joe Biden’s advanced age (81), telling Democrats to “accept the reality.”

Clinton addressed Biden age concerns in a Tuesday appearance on SiriusXM’s Mornings with Zerlina , hosted by Zerlina Maxwell , and claimed people are “skittish about age.”

“I think it’s much more about the fact that Americans are kind of skittish about age. You know, we really are a culture that worships young people, youth, and all of the artifacts of being young. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but I would put Joe Biden’s record up against anybody’s. He got a lot done and we’re the better for it,” she said.

Clinton said she’s actually directly heard concerns about Biden’s age.

“Somebody said the other day to me, Zerlina, ‘well, you know, Joe Biden’s old,'” she said. “I said, ‘you know what? Joe Biden is old.’ Let’s go ahead and accept the reality. Joe Biden is old.”

Clinton argued she’s more concerned about Donald Trump’s public gaffes than any coming from Biden .

“Listen to Donald Trump who is like ranting, making no sense, can’t even remember who he is running against. He constantly talks about Barack Obama being his opponent. Last I checked, that wasn’t what was happening,”she said. “So if you’re worried about a person not necessarily knowing what’s going on, I’d worry a lot more about Donald Trump.”

A New York Times/Siena College poll released this month showed a majority of Biden’s 2020 voters feel he’s now too old to serve as commander in chief. More than 70% of voters said he’s too old to be effective as president.

Hillary Clinton again dismissed Biden age concerns on Wednesday, writing on X, formerly Twitter, that a “few years” don’t make much difference when you’re in your 70s or 80s. Donald Trump, the likely Republican Party nominee, is 77 compared to Biden’s 81.

“When you’re lucky to live into your seventies or eighties, the difference of a few years doesn’t matter all that much. Joe Biden and Donald Trump are effectively the same age. Let’s use that as a baseline,” the former secretary of state wrote, calling Biden “one of the most effective presidents of our lifetime.”
