BC is coming off of some great totals in the past 4 days. General 4-day totals were in the 9-15 inch range with conditions that have been improving steadily over the past week. Whitewater in Nelson BC has seen over 133CM in the past 7 days! Whistler has seen 189 CMs in the past week. That is nearly 1/4 of the total snowfall they have had all season.

Whitewater-grabbing deep snowfall in the past 7 days (133CM).

The weather models are very consistent in bringing in a strong area of low pressure off the BC coast beginning later Thursday or early on Friday. This low-pressure system is very moist and contains decent cold air with snow levels starting near 2500-3,000 feet early in the storm cycle and finishing colder to near 1800 feet.

Snow density will be a bit dense at lower elevations (Mixed rain-snow is possible at the base initially) with good quality from mid to upper slopes. Snow will likely be accumulating in the Valley towards Saturday night or Sunday.

The map is total snowfall through Sunday night with the peak intensity likely Friday/Saturday-Late PM. The totals are in CM which would equivelate to near 40 inches near Whistler. Higher amounts are possible at the upper elevations with the colder temps and better snow ratios. The Cascades of Washington will score lower totals but very respectable amounts by Sunday/Monday.

Interior BC scores moderate snow this weekend with higher totals noted in the extreme southern regions of BC and especially northern Idaho near Selkirk Powder Guides and Schweitzer extending into the Panhandle of Idaho. Note: These totals are in CM

Low pressure moving in from the BC coast beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.

You can see the totals adding up (CM) from early Friday to Monday beginning up north in Canada and eventually moving south into the Cascades by later this weekend. Hurricane Ridge in Coastal Washington's Olympic National Park might score some decent totals also.
