The crown of thorns is a special symbol for Christians all over. According to the Bible, the crown of thorns was worn upon Jesus' head during his crucifixion, symbolizing the suffering he endured for humanity's redemption.

Today's crown of thorns has records dateing back to around 400 AD. In 1238, it was given to French King Louis IX by Latin Emperor Baldwin II. It lived at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris until a fire destroyed the cathedral's roof and spire on April 15th, 2019.

Luckily, the crown of thorns was saved by firefighters and then was moved to the Louvre Museum. Previously it was displayed at the Notre-Dame Cathedral and available for viewing each Friday of Lent and on Good Friday.

Historians have verified it to be at least 1,600 years old, however there has never been verification if this was the authentic crown worn by Jesus Christ. Some believers regard relics associated with the crown as sacred representations of Jesus' sacrifice. Despite the absence of concrete evidence, just the age and history of the crown and what it represents is enough for thousands to visit and admire.
