(670 The Score) While Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor remains available on the trade market amid a contract dispute with Indianapolis, there isn’t any reason to expect the Bears to get seriously involved, Dan Pompei of the Athletic told the Mully & Haugh Show.

“I don’t see him as a fit for the Bears,” Pompei said Friday morning. “I think if you look at what the Bears history has been in free agency under (general manager Ryan) Poles, they haven’t made those kinds of moves where they pay a guy a big-money, top-of-the-market deal. They would have to give up not only a trade asset but also make him maybe the highest-paid running back in football. So you’d be giving up a lot from that standpoint, hurting your flexibility from a cap and cash (standpoint). I just don’t see it. If you look at, if Poles is of the same mindset as (general manager) Brett Veach is in Kansas City, that (coach) Andy Reid – look at their running backs over time.
They’ve never had a guy like Jonathan Taylor. I don’t see that happening.”

The Dolphins appear to be the most serious suitor for Taylor, as they recently had a trade offer rejected, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Thursday. Taylor, 24, rushed for 861 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games in 2022. He had a monster 2021 season, earning All-Pro honors after posting an NFL-high 1,811 rushing yards and NFL-best 18 rushing touchdowns. He has averaged 5.1 yards per carry in his three-year NFL career.

The Bears have a backfield committee that they’re confident in, with Khalil Herbert in line to be the starter and rookie Roschon Johnson making a strong impression in training camp and the preseason. Chicago also signed veteran D’Onta Foreman this past offseason, though he appears to be on the roster bubble.
