Greg Abbott Says Another Major Business Is Moving To Texas

Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently announced that another major business is moving to Texas. "California-based Ruiz Foods is moving its corporate HQ to Frisco," he said. "With an unrivaled business climate and skilled, diverse workforce, Texas is America's #1 economic destination."

Ruiz Foods is one of the top producers of frozen Mexican dishes in the United States and Canada. According to reports by ABC30, the relocation of headquarters to Texas will take with it approximately 125 jobs by 2026.

The CEO of Ruiz Food, Dan Antonelli, said moving corporate operations in Texas makes geographic sense for the company’s long-term growth. “As a national business with locations and customers throughout the U.S, being in the center of the country allows us same day access to each of our facilities, puts us closer to our customers, and provides us with a larger metropolitan market for talent recruitment.”

Texas Is A Popular State For Large Businesses.

"The Lone Star State has led the nation in population growth over the last 17 years and continues to be a top state for job creation," per Texas Economic Development - a government website. "Texas offers a combination of unique competitive business advantages that no other state can claim: a business-friendly climate—with no corporate or personal income tax—along with a highly skilled and diverse workforce, easy access to global markets, robust infrastructure and a reasonable regulatory environment."

Ruiz Foods isn't the only large company to move their corporate headquarters to Texas in recent years. Tesla, for example, relocated their headquarters to Texas. Exxon Mobil, AT&T, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are just a few of many household names who moved to the Lone Star State.

Perhaps that's why Texas is home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state, according to Forbes. "The tax and regulatory environment in Texas is incredibly attractive. The state famously doesn’t levy an income tax on individuals or businesses. The drawback here is that Texas has among the highest property taxes in the nation, but when you consider that it has far fewer business regulations than most states, the savings balance out."
