According to officials, an 8-year-old New Hampshire boy died Sunday after being shot in the neck the day before by a guy firing at automobiles going by his home in South Carolina.

According to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken, the child's father, who was driving the car, was also wounded in the leg but is likely to live. His identity has not been revealed.

The shooting occurred during the family's vacation in South Carolina.

According to von Lutcken, Quarius Naqua Dunham died after being taken off life support. He had been in critical condition in the hospital following the incident.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to von Lutcken.

Authorities accused Charles Montgomery Allen, 40, of Florence, with two charges of attempted murder, three counts of shooting a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime prior to the child's death.
