    The possible sighting was recorded near Mike Miller Park's pond in southwestern Kentucky.

    Park employees, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Sheriff's Department were all dispatched to the area, but they have yet to confirm the sighting.

    If visitors plan to visit the park's pond, park officials advise them to exercise caution and be mindful of their surroundings.

    Alligators are not common in Kentucky. Almost every occurrence included someone transporting the animal from a southern state.

    Alligators can reach 20 feet in length and weigh up to 500 pounds. They are carnivores that mostly consume fish but will also consume turtles, birds, small mammals, and amphibians.
