    Broken Bow Closes Out Regular Season Tonight at Minden

    The Broken Bow football team will close out the regular season tonight when they play at Minden. Broken Bow is 6-2 this season and is looking to qualify for the state playoffs for the first time since 2015. The Indians currently sit at #8 in the NSAA Class C1 point standings entering tonight’s game. The eight Class C1 district champions automatically advance to the C1 state playoffs. The eight highest non district champions in the NSAA point standings will also advance to the playoffs to round out the 16 team field. Broken Bow currently sits 2nd in the C1-7 district standings behind undefeated Kearney Catholic who edged Broken Bow earlier this season 9-6. Broken Bow’s opponent Minden will be fighting for a chance to make the playoffs. The Whippets are currently tied for 17th in the C1 point standings. The Class C1 state playoffs begin next Friday.     Broken Bow Goes 1-2 at SWC Volleyball Tournament

    The Broken Bow volleyball team went 1-2 at the Southwest Conference volleyball tournament in Minden on Friday. The Lady Indians entered the tournament as the top seed. Broken Bow defeated Cozad in the opening by scores of 25-7, 25-11. The win against Cozad also marked the 200th career win for Broken Bow head volleyball coach Skylar Morris. Broken Bow would face Minden in the semifinals. Minden was strong on their home court winning the match in straight sets 25-17, 25-17. Broken Bow would then face Ogallala in the third place consolation match. Gothenburg defeated Ogallala in the semifinals 25-23, 25-20. Broken Bow took the lead early over Ogallala winning the first set 25-18 but Ogallala came back to tie the match winning 25-16 in the second. The third set was tight throughout but Ogallala would end up taking it by a score of 25-22. Broken Bow will play at the C1-10 sub district tournament on Monday. Broken Bow will play Gothenburg. The match will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. The C1-10 tournament will be hosted by Kearney Catholic High School. Read more

    Broken Bow Football Wins Regular Season Finale Against Minden

    Broken Bow Football Wins Regular Season Finale Against Minden

    The Broken Bow football team shutout Minden in its regular season finale Friday to improve to 7-2 on the season. Broken Bow scored on their opening drive of the game marching 69 yards and taking over 6 minutes off the clock. Broken Bow converted on 4th down and goal as Austin Harvey connected with Zak Gaffney on a 12 yard touchdown pass. Broken Bow scored again on a 3 yard touchdown run by Connor Wells with 3:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter. After forcing Minden to punt deep in their own territory near, Broken Bow would take over on the Minden 32 with 20 seconds left to play in the first half. Austin Harvey connected with Keegan Baxter to set up Broken Bow inside the Minden five yard line and then hit Max Denson for a two yard touchdown pass right before the half to make the score 18-0. Neither team would score in the 2nd half. Broken Bow’s defense was solid all night forcing four Minden turnovers including three interceptions in the 2nd half. Broken Bow now awaits to see where they will be seeded in the Class C1 state playoff bracket. The Class C1 playoffs begin on Friday. Read more
