New Hope resident Mike Dalewitz’s capitalistic savvy started when he was in high school. He used his dad’s Tax ID number to launch a sports collectibles business and hasn’t looked back since. Cynthia Marone profiled this local biz-whiz for Bucks County Magazine.

Dalewitz, 42, has made a career of identifying marketplace gaps and jumping in with both feet to fill them. Atop an education in law (and some side careers in cooking and standup comedy), he started the MD Events & Entertainment Agency.

He’s now juggling five separate businesses (it was once seven, but two have been acquired). Their fields cover everything from architectural design to software to restaurants.

Among his food-industry successes is The Borscht Belt, a Jewish deli in Stockton, N.J.

“What we landed on with The Borsht Belt has been magical,” he says.

The interest in franchising the concept is high. “Investors all over the country [want] to put this in hotels and airports and casinos in their towns. They said, ‘You landed on such a winning concept where it’s retro, and you have a great chef behind it.’”

In his “spare time,” Dalewitz is a charter member of Bucks Beautiful and a board member and term chair of the Bucks County Playhouse.

More on Mike Dalewitz is at Bucks County Magazine.
