(MASTIC, N.Y.) Suffolk County police told residents in Mastic to stay in their homes Monday while an escaped bull is on the loose.

The 1,500-pound bull reportedly escaped from a farm in Moriches, and police said the first call for the bull came in around 8:23 a.m. from Montgomery Avenue in Mastic, according to News 12 Long Island.

The loose bull prompted police to close Sunrise Highway in both directions at Exit 58, but the road has since reopened, according to NBC New York.

Handlers tracking the bull reportedly plan to send it to a sanctuary in New Jersey once they are able to catch it.
