At 5 pm on Tuesday a shooting was reported at S Westmoreland Ave & Francis Ave (later changed to Dewey Ave & W Olympic Blvd.) in the Harvard Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles near Koreatown.

Police were in vehicular pursuit of at least one suspect involved in the shooting for mere minutes.

The vehicle the police were pursuing was involved in a collision shortly after the chase began.

One person was taken into custody, then police confirmed that all suspects were in custody. It is unknown how many suspects were arrested.

Police blocked traffic at W Olympic Blvd and S Catalina St.

Citizen app user videos showed police lining up on the street and blocking the intersection.

Further information on this crime is currently unavailable, including if there were any victims related to the shooting.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore said more than 700 ghost guns seized in Los Angeles in 2020 were made from parts bought from one company. More than 300 were seized in South Los Angeles, where homicides soared last year to levels not seen in a decade.

Ghost guns are made from kits without traceable registrations or requirements for background checks on purchasers.

It is unknown if the gun in this case was one of these guns.

In 2018, a man was fatally shot in the Harvard Heights neighborhood. According to Neighborhood Report (CrosstownLA), Harvard Heights ranks 49th out of 260 in terms of crime rate.

Anyone with any information on this or other can contact LAPD’s West Bureau homicide detectives at 213-382-9470. Anonymous tips may be submitted via Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
