A black man has repeatedly offended an Asian New York City police officer. This happened in front of six other officers, on a street in Washington Square Park during the weekend.

    How did it all happen?

The New York Post reported that the officers had come to the location because several protests were due in the park. The furious black man was standing on a sidewalk, facing down an officer in the street. He kept repeating offensive words and Asian slurs against the officer, as The Blaze notes.

The New York Post revealed the individual was in the park and got annoyed when the officer approached him and asked him to stay on the sidewalk.

“I'm on the sidewalk, what you gonna do? What's your name?” the man asked, according to the paper.
Then he went on saying “You're not even from this country. Get outta here,! Get outta here!’

Another police officer came close and told the man he needed to stay on the sidewalk, while motioning the other officers, including the Asian officer, to walk on down the street. But the offensive words kept coming.

At one point a white man on a bicycle came on the scene and told the black man to stop using racial slurs.

“Why you calling people that, man?” he shouted from the bicycle. As the black man continues to yell both at the man passing on the bicycle and at the officers, the white man shouts at him a few times and before riding away calls the black man “a racist.”

Ultimate excuse: “Black people can’t be racist”

And what happened next? Well, the black man shouted back that “black people can't be racist” and continued to offend and shout at the officers.

He followed the group of police officers in an attempt to bait them. “What you wanna do? What you wanna do?”
The Asian officer allegedly told him to stop talking like that. The man replied, “Watch my mouth for what? Watch my mouth for what? ... Go look me up! ... I work for the state! I pay your salary! I'm out here all night, by myself! I ain't gotta have 100 people with me! ... How 'bout that?”

In the end the man strangely claimed that his tirade wasn’t actually meant for Asian people, that he didn’t “go out to all Asian people.”

“Lemme get this straight. I'm talkin' about the cops. The cops are not our friends. You understand? I wanna get that clear because the white man on the bicycle rolled by and said, 'Yo, you racist.' Black people cannot be racist!”

What did NYPD have to say about it?

“Each day, NYPD officers are expected to maintain a level of professionalism under an array of difficult circumstances. In this instance, an Asian police officer was subjected to an ugly onslaught of racial slurs and maintained his composure.
However, it is disturbing to see this type of language used against any Asian person in light of the disturbing increase of Asian hate crimes citywide,” a police spokeswoman stated for the news outlet after the New York City incident.
