There are plenty of deeply interesting museums in Tucson, from art galleries to science-related places to history museums.

Lots of these take place in buildings, though. What are the museums where you get to explore something new and enjoy the lovely weather at the same time? That's what we'll have a look at in this article.

The summer is here, and long wonderful days spent in the sun have come with it. I don't know how about you, but I've spent the last few days admiring the lovely weather and enjoying my time in the sun. If you can discover some new museums while also spending the day in the sunshine, why not take that opportunity?

Here are the two outside museums that you can discover in Tucson, Arizona.

Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block

First of all, the Historic Block (which is a part of the Tucson Museum of Art) is a wonderful place to visit if you'd like to take a lovely stroll in the sunshine. That's because the Historic Block encompasses five different historic houses which spread through a 4-acre city block.

Walking through the block right in Tucson will let you explore the history of Tucson as well as the art of architecture. The five houses in the Historic Block in Tucson are: J. Knox Corbett House, La Casa Cordova, The (Edward Nye) Fish House, The Romero House, and The Stevens/ Duffield Houses.

The buildings were built in adobe and Mission-Revival styles and they offer a wonderful insight into what it was like to live in the area of Tucson in the 19th and 20th centuries.

La Casa Cordova, for example, is one of the oldest buildings in all of Tucson. The official website of the Historic Block expands further:

"La Casa Cordova, one of the oldest buildings in Tucson, is home to the seasonal exhibition El Nacimiento. It is an excellent example of a Sonoran row house, a common building style in the late nineteenth century. La Casa Cordova, along with El Nacimiento, an elaborate diorama of the birth and life of Christ, is open seasonally."

It would be a wonderful idea to take a stroll through the Historic Block and have a look at all the houses while enjoying the sunshine. Unfortunately, the houses are currently closed to the public due to the Covvid-19 Pandemic, however, the summer is long - you might get to explore them in July or August, depending on if the Historic Block in Tucson opens again.

In any case, you can write it on your list of places you'd like to visit in the upcoming summer months and hope for the best!

    Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Rated as number 3 out of 336 things to do in Tucson on Tripadvisor, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson is one of the most popular places that you could find in Tucson. And luckily for us, the museum is located mostly outdoors, which means you'll get to enjoy the sun while exploring what the museum has to offer!

In the museum, you get to find out more about the landscape of Arizona, but not only that - there's also a zoo, a botanical garden, an art gallery, and even an aquarium!

According to the official website of the museum, the mission of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is:

"The mission of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation, and understanding of the Sonoran Desert."

If you'd like to learn more about wildlife, plants, art related to Arizona, and more, don't hesitate to head to 2021 N. Kinney Rd in Tucson. Walk in the sunshine and see what the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum has to offer!

    Final Thoughts

These are the two outside museums in Tucson that you can visit. However, there are many more outdoor places in Tucson worth visiting - the city truly has a lot to offer, so don't hesitate to find out more about all the places you can see and enjoy in the sunshine!
