    Metro Detroit Rooftops To Visit This Summer

    As us Detroiters know, winters are rough and by the time the spring days come about, everyone wants to enjoy their time outside, specifically at restaurants. The arrival of spring and summer is always a cause for celebration.

    There is no better way to get excited for the few months of summer than a cold drink on a rooftop patio, along with a view. A rooftop setting only means a lively atmosphere, a fun view and good drinks. Not to mention, that rooftop dining, specifically amongst a pandemic, can give you a piece of mind as there is more space and room for social distancing.

    From weekend brunches to day drinking adventures with the crew, Detroit is home to a few awesome rooftop patios made for sipping in the sun.

    Joe Muer Seafood

    400 Renaissance Center #1404, Detroit, MI 48243

    Located in the Renaissance Center, Joe Muer Seafood is an upscale restaurant where you'll find tables filled of modern white-tablecloth dining setting. The view here is absolutely astoundishing as no matter where you are sitting, the floor-to-ceiling windows will offer a view of Windsor and the Detroit River. But just wait; along with the inside view, Joe Muer Seafood also has a patio that sits above the hustle and bustle. The menu here easily is the most formal out of the other options as the food is centered around seafood but there are some classics as well like poultry, beef, and lamb.

    In this modern white-tablecloth dining room in the Renaissance Center, floor-to-ceiling windows offer a sweeping view of Windsor and the Detroit River. Diners also can sit on the patio, which is heated on cooler days. The menu centers on seafood, with classics such as Dover sole, whitefish, and surf and turf. and sushi and raw oyster bars. There’s also poultry, beef, and lamb.

    Lumen

    1903 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

    If you are looking for an upscale restaurant downtown specifically overlooking Beacon Park, Lumen Detroit is the place to go. Lumen has 360-degree rooftop views that are just breathtaking and will leave you coming back for more; the food and views both. The rooftop area seats 45 people and the best part is that the patio is surrounded by a sustainable garden. The menu here has lots of beer options along with a full bar as well. You can hear the concerts in the park from this restaurants so the entertainment never ends.

    With 360-degree rooftop views of downtown Detroit and Beacon Park, Lumen’s 45 rooftop seats are prime spots for kicking back with a Belgian beer. Take a peek over the park or the neighboring Grand Army of the Republic castle while sipping Delirium Tremens over a bowl of pei mussels or new American bites. Lumen also offers seating in its bright indoor dining room, and outdoor seating on street level.

    The Monarch Club

    33 John R St, Detroit, MI 48226

    One of the very tallest rooftop patios in the city is at The Monarch Club. This restaurant sits atop the Metropolitan Building and is both chill and elegant. The Monarch Club offers classic cocktails, small plates and big city views. If it's a colder night, call to make a reservation for seating with a firepit.

    Atwater Brewery and Taphouse

    237 Jos Campau, Detroit, MI 48207

    Enjoy a beer from the rotating menu of taps while you take in the scenery of the Detroit River and the historic Rivertown district. Atwater Brewery has a cool beer garden that you must be sure to check out while you're there as well. This restaurant is actually perched above the company’s brewhouse and the menu here includes both beer on tap and light summer beers like the signature Dirty Blonde Ale and Whango Mango Wheat. Its relaxed atomosphere goes along great with the communal seating and European-inspired patio.

    Cøllect

    1454 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI 48207

    Cøllect is another spot that includes an awesome rooftop location. This laid-back rooftop is located above the Chinese restaurant, Bunny Bunny. The deck here is filled with picnic tables, which is the perfect, casual spot to sip one of Collect's nine roatating drafts they offer or a glass of wine if you prefer.

    Motor City Brewing Works

    470 W Canfield St, Detroit, MI 48201

    You probably have heard of Motor City Brewing Works before as it is actually one of Detroit's original craft breweries. This breweing company and restaurant offers great brick-oven pizzas along with, I'm sure you can guess, beer. Motor City Brewing Works even has rooftop seating making this location the perfect one for summer time. Although the rooftop deck is on the smaller side, the view overlooks the brewery's Canfield Street enterance and a majority of the tables offer umbrellas for some shade.

    Mike's on the Water

    24600 Jefferson Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48080

    Step away from the city life and check out this next rooftop destination which is actually on a marina and includes nautical decor. Mike’s on the Water is a popular spot to grab a cocktail and lobster roll. Along with the cocktails, Mike's on the Water also offers Michigan wines, beer and a food truck kitchen.

    Pinky's Rooftop

    Alley Entrance, 100 S Main St Rear, Royal Oak, MI 48067

    Pinky's Rooftop has to be the most aesthetic and unique of them all. At Pinky’s Rooftop, everything is pink including the bar that is made of marble and even as far as the fire pit coals go, those are also pink. This rooftop restaurant overlooks downtown Royal Oak's Main Street and offers a rooftop garden that is surrounded by palm trees. It really feels like vacation over at this fun place. The menu is just as fun as the entire place itself. Here you'll find boozy Pinky’s Ice Pops popsicles, cotton candy cocktails, sliders, tacos and so many other delicious options.

    Social Kitchen and Bar

    225 E Maple Rd, Birmingham, MI 48009

    Social Kitchen and Bar is a Birmingham favorite. This restaurant has an open-air rooftop patio that has a mix of high-top and communal tables. The fun environment is only the beginning as the food is delicious and cocktails are refreshing. There is also more informal lounge furniture and a dedicated bar on the rooftop as well to enjoy.
