Memorial Day weekend is just right around the corner. It’s an important day to honor and mourn the fallen hero who died serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day also marks an unofficial start of summer, and people usually spend this day with family and friends. As life is gradually returning to normal, there are some exciting events and activities around Akron that you and your family can enjoy.

Here are three ultimate ways to celebrate Memorial Day weekend in Akron:

1. Memorial Day Flea

Hartville Marketplace

Kick-off your weekend by visiting the Memorial Day Flea at Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market. The Memorial Day Flea will run from May 27-31 at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. with free entrance. A little reminder for you, the weekend traffic can be overwhelming, so it is suggested to enter via the back access to avoid crowds. For those who drive, you will most likely find it difficult to park your vehicles. So, arrive early before 7 a.m. to get the best parking spot for you! Don’t forget to wear sunscreen and keep hydrated while walking around the flea market.

2. Memorial Day Bootcamp

Get fit with delicious food from Memorial Day Bootcamp hosted by The Grit Fit team. The Grit Fit team will be hosting a Bootcamp/Cookout for the community on Memorial Day at 11 a.m. There will be a workout session and a vast selection of food for you to taste. You can enjoy the food and socialize with people from the community to start your morning right. This event will take place at 1615 W Market St. and cost $15 per person.
