The Future Happened Exhibition, by the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) and The Design Futures Lab at California College of the Arts (CCA), is holding a public discussion on new avenues of art and the sensory experience and technology that surround it.

The panel, which consists of creative visionaries Nep Sidhu, Richelle Gribble, and CCA graduate Lawrence Azerrad, will discuss how artists, designers, technologists, healers, and activists alter our relationship with music and introduce us to alternative narratives that influence our ways of being in the world.

According to the event’s website, the talks will mainly discuss how humans have used music and its culture to convey our experiences and make a difference in the world from time immemorial. As music causes change, frames our most basic human experiences, and molds our emotions and identities, it means humans have the power of using creativity to rethink the futures and the outer limits of possibility.

Dean of Design Helen Maria Nugent chairs the event as a part of The Future Happened: Designing the Future of Music, an Atlanta-based online exhibition that investigates how design and art enrich our relationship with music. It explores the city’s impact on the field, both locally and globally, while featuring 40 artists from Europe, Africa, Japan, and the United States.

“The exhibition opens our eyes to new and radical narratives that have the power to transform our ways of being in the world,” said Grammy Award-winning creative director, author, and the exhibition’s principal curator, Lawrence Azerrad.

“It examines how design can be key in sharing our stories and amplifying our power to make a difference in the world, alongside exploring innovation in design and technology that opens our eyes to new and radical narratives that have the power to transform our ways of being in the world,” said Azerrad.
